Cheatinghasbecomesocommonexpertssaythatitoftengoesunreportedandunpunished.Surveysshownotonlythatthereismorecheatingthesedaysbutalsothatstudentsandteachersalikehavebecomemoreacceptingofsomepracticesonceconsideredoutoflimits.OnesuchsurveywasperformedfortheCentreforAcademicIntegrityanorganizationbasedatDukethathelpscreatehonorcodes.Inthatsurvey27percentofstudentsquestionedduringthe2001—2002academicyearsaidthatfalsifying(伪造)laboratorydatahappened“oftenorveryoften”oncampus.
