一些依靠口传身授方式加以承传的文化遗产正在不断消失；许多传统技艺濒临消亡；大量珍贵实物与资料遭到毁弃或流失境外；随意滥用、过度开发文化遗产的现象时有发生.

法律法规建设的步伐不能及时跟上非物质文化遗产保护工作的需要,中国非物质文化遗产还缺乏相关法律的保护；管理尚不健全,保护工作还缺乏制度要求、保护标准和目标管理.收集、整理、调查、记录、建档、展示、利用、人员培养等工作相当薄弱,保护管理资金和人员不足的困难普遍存在.

—些地方非物质文化遗产保护意识淡薄,重申报、重开发,轻保护、轻管理的现象比较普遍；少数地方对非物质文化遗产进行超负荷利用和破坏性开发,存在商业化、人工化和城镇化倾向,甚至借继承创新之名随意篡改民俗艺术,极大地损害了非物质文化遗产的原真性.

非物质文化遗产不像文物能够独立存在,其无形性使得人类要传承延续有一定困难.而非物质文化遗产也是逐渐演变的,人类活动的介入,使一些非物质文化遗产因为我们的不当保护而中断了自然演变进程.因此,我们的保护手段应当是多样化的,但前提是保持其原生态,不要人为中断其按自身规律进行的演变.
