Withtherapiddevelopmentofinternationaltrade,theworld'seconomyhasgrownrapidly.SincejoiningtheWTO,Chinahasbeenexperiencingrapidgrowthinforeigntrade,however,attheexpenseofourenvironment.Thelaggingbehindinscientifictechnologyandimperfectcompetitivemarketstructuregivesrisetovariousenvironmentalproblems,includingpollution.Therefore,it'stimeforChinatocallforachangeandtogetanupperhandininternationaltrade.Thispaperreviewstheexistinginternationaltraderegime,China'sinvolvementasatradingpartner,andthecurrentstatusourenvironmentalpollution.AnanalysiswillbeprovidedtosummarizetheimpactofinternationaltradeonChina'senvironmentalpollution.Theecologicalfootprintofbothimportsandexportswillbeevaluatedwithempiricalanalysis.Anextensiveresearchhasbeenconducted,whichshedslightsonthecloserelationshipbetweenexpansionininternationaltradeandtheriseseriousenvironmentalpollution,suggestionsareprovidedasfollows:(1)asoundlegalsystemforenvironmentalprotectionshouldbeestablished;(2)governmentinvestmentonenvironmentalprotectionshouldbeincreased;(3)investmentingreentechnologyshouldbepromoted;and(4)China'stradestructureshouldbeoptimized,forbothimportsandexports.
