Second,whileinsomewayswecouldbesaidtobelivinginasensatecivilization,inotherways,technologyhasactuallygotteninthewayoftruesensation.Weseemtoenjoycyber-sensationsfarmorethanwedoactualones.
Certainly,weneedtogetbacktonaturetosomedegree.Andifweareabletodoso,perhapsthatwillfostertheappreciationandrespectfornaturethatweneedinordertoseetoitthatwecontinuetohavenaturetoenjoy.Weareusingourresourcesrecklessly,motivatedalwaysbyprofitandwhatappearstobemindlessgrowth.
AreweatanotherpointintimeinwhichtheforcesoftheRomanticarebattlingwiththeforcesofscienceandtechnology?IstodayreminiscentoftheerathatproducedFrankenstein?Isourcivilizationanothermonsterwecannotcontrol?I'mnotsure,butIwouldliketothinkthattherearesomeself-correctingmechanismsthatoccurintheseeras,sothatwecanachievesomebalancebetweentheseforces.
