Susan B.Anthony was born on February 15,1820.She learned to read and write when she was three years old.She became a teacher after growing up.She worked hard to end slavery (奴隶制度)for black people.She went to many meetings.Once she stood up at the meeting to speak."Women may not speak at our meetings,"said the leader."Women can only listen.""We can do much more if we can speak.Women have something to say,too,"said Susan.

Susan made many speeches.People threw eggs and tomatoes at her.She wrote a newspaper.She joined with other women who also wanted women's rights.She worked for women's rights for forty years.Four states had given women the right to vote by 1906when she died.Fourteen years later,the law gave all American women the right to vote.
