IncollegeSpringBreak（春假）isusuallyassociatedwiththebeachpartiesandsleeplessnightsbringingaboutrelaxationfreetimeandfriends.StudentswhowishtospendtheirbreakdoingsomethingproductiveandrewardinghowevermaychoosetoparticipateintheAlternativeBreakProgram.Itplacescollegestudentsincommunitiesbothathomeandabroad.

TheProgramallowsstudentstotakepartinvariousprojectsdealingwithissuessuchasliteracy（识字）homelessnessandtheenvironment.Itincludeshelpingkidswiththeirlessonsraisingmoneyforfamiliesinneedandcollectingdataforenvironmentalresearch.

Thehopeisthatbygettingthemselvesinvolvedindifferentenvironmentsstudentswillhavetheopportunitytolearnaboutmembersofcommunitiesandbroadentheirview.Inturntheywillincorporate(融合)theirexperiencesandlessonslearnedintotheirowncommunities.InawordtheProgramaimstoencouragestudentstobeactivecitizensndengagethemselvesinmakingadifferenceinsociety.
