Thirteen-year-old Tae Tae Davis is having a party. At this party, there are no cakes or candles. There is a room full of art supplies and many kids she's never met.
Tae Tae tells the kids,"You guys are going to paint a watercolor (水彩画)."At the party, the kids have two things in common. They all love art,and they all don't have homes."I want to make the kids feel the enjoyment of art,"says Tae Tae."And the homeless kids don't really have the things to paint."
Tae Tae got the idea last year after her school cut art supplies from the budget (预算).She was afraid that kids who couldn't afford their own supplies would give up their artistic dream. So she started writing letters to big companies for help. She wrote 50letters in all and heard back from 45.
The girl received lots of donations from some of the biggest art supply companies. She collected more than 32,000in art supplies, enough to make a number of kids paint their own watercolors.
By far she's held three parties. Her behavior was encouraged by the White House.Tae Tae received the President's Volunteer Service Award.Although awards are nice,Tae Tae does it for a different reason---to get the poor kids to enjoy art.
