DocumentingtheTangmilanguageandcultureisjustastartingpointforTurinwhoseekstoincludeotherlanguagesandoraltraditionsacrosstheHimalayansreachesofIndiaNepalBhutanandChina.Butheisnotcontenttosimplyrecordthesevoicesbeforetheydisappearwithoutrecord.
AttheUniversityofCambridgeTurindiscoveredawealthofimportantmaterials-includingphotographsfilmstaprecordingsandfieldnotes-whichhadremainedunstudiedandwerebadlyinneedofcareandprotection.
Nowthroughthetwoorganizationsthathehasfounded-theDigitalHimalayaProjectandtheWorldOralLiteratureProject-Turinhasstartedacampaigntomakesuchdocumentsfoundinlibrariesandstoresaroundtheworldavailablenotjusttoscholarsbuttotheyoungers.
